Dec. 5th, 2003 12:06 ams'kay, time to update.
back to thanksgiving....went to brett's for the day which was very nice, the only new person I met was his sister who was up from NY. I've been told his sister doesn't actually exist, but as I've heard the same thing about myself, I'm going to pay no mind to all of that. 'sides if I did pay attention to that, this would quickly turn into a discussion on the nature of reality and being.
I spent time talking to her about fencing. It's always amusing to watch sport fencers learn the differences between sport and SCA fencing. We also saw a great production of Les Mis that night and in general, I had a great thanksgiving break. I hung out with a bunch of people I don't normally see and played a larger than normal amount of card games. Definitely grateful for the good things in my life (*knocks on woods*).
This work week has been a bit of fun, with lots of paperwork generation and what appears to be my inability to go to sleep at a reasonable hour :). I blame George R. R. Martin for the most part but I think the rpg I joined may factor in there somewheres. :)
I also made it to Madrigal fight practice on wednesday, but I didn't join in for too long as I was sorely lacking in sleep. I played just long enough to figure out a few more of my style problems but not how to fix them. I hate when you can see the shot coming and still can't block it in time. This weekend which should involve a bit more fighting, and I'm hoping that the weather stays somewhat nice.....
I saw a recent meme about people's characters, in games and larps, and while I don't feel the need to answer all of it, I will say my first character was Mr. Squiggly, who made it to 3rd level as a fighter in D&D. I was very fond of him. I was 5 at the time I made him. I think he wound up being a male character because my mom gave me and my brother some sort of mock grief over female fighters and my brother wanted to take the time to roleplay making breast cups in my armor if my character was female and that seemed tremendously boring :P He's also part of the reason I think I default assume I'm playing male characters in rpgs....because that's what I always played as a kid. I know my next character was a cleric, who I came back to for years....but i don't remember his name at the moment, but strangely I can still envision the plans for the fort/outpost he built in the wilderness.
I have a list of things to do a mile long...yipe!
