another glorious wednesday
Dec. 5th, 2001 08:00 amyesterday i went round to the depts. and GEO looking for funding/job opportunities for next spring. No one has any. oh well, it's what I expected. However GEO was very helpful and gave me some good advice. Also it turns out any grad student can have a 2nd job at the school cannot deny them it as long as it doesn't interfere with their school job. Good to know but not really relevant to me at the moment.
Things move at a pace. J and I went over to George's last night to watch an old Andromeda with James Marstors in it. It's an intensely cheesy show. I figure that's the norm though for an new sci-fi/fantasy show until it finds its schtick. Buffy was horrible at times the first season or so. George and I forced J to cook some, because she does need to learn how and really basic cooking is fairly easy. Most people just need to do it a few times to get the hang of it. 'Twas good despite the red pepper making my lips feel on fire. We watched bits and pieces of old Buffys, and saw the Gillmore Girls, which J had never seen before. The thing that seems to attract me to a TV show is sardonic wit, good dialogue, and character development. Overall the excersion was a nice break. I still need to do some supply chain management homework and stuff for our project. i ran into Buqing at lunch yesterday and he apologize for not calling me about it. I suspect he was busy with other end-o-the semester stuff. That's fine, though I will say the worst thing about working in groups is often scheduling the meetings when everyone i bogged down with other things.
Oh well, today we have that guest speaker from RPI to hear at the MIE seminar.
