Radiant Dragon was awesome; much love to [livejournal.com profile] eponinethebard for convincing me to go -- I've been so caught up in getting work projects done that I had forgotten to have any fun. Running around and beating stuff up, finding stuff out is always a good relief for that.

I just need to remember next time I stay up until 4 in the morning at the Lucky Cricket to take pain meds before I go to sleep, as I naturally wake up early and the combination of that with larp stuff makes my neck very unhappy if I don't.

The political structure of the game continues to be fun---and the different house traditions. One of the things I find interesting about Radiant, is that when I go to write my PEL, it's hard for me to break things down into modules as when the game is going well it seems to flow seamlessly from one event to another and I lose myself enough in the game that I do not think about things at that level. A large portion of this may be due to the setup with the senseis coming to our houses to talk to the player base and how interactions in the game work with plot members coming into game as other members of houses (with varying ranks). There's also a huge element of information sharing between the houses that is ongoing throughout the event. It's rather brilliant when it goes well and incredibly immersive.

As normal, I love Amber Falcon, as they are a group of highly skilled individuals and we work well with each other in general. I think our fighting styles and skills have continued to get better over time as well. There are still some minor communication issues, but they are generally at an IG level rather than an OOG level (if that makes sense) and caused minor frustrations. This event I was trying to step back a bit and not be as aggressive about going after a few things (mostly talking and roleplay) within my own house (give others a chance to step up) but I think it backfired slightly on me in the fact that I wound up frustrated about a few small things and feeling less involved. I believe that everyone should have a chance to shine, but balancing this is sometimes hard. The team setting within Radiant adds another dimension to this.

I really want everyone around me to have fun and feel included. In general with larp, I'm a big believer in collaborative story telling and in information sharing. One of the joys in a game like this is acquiring the back story to what happened, figuring out what has happened, and what we as players can do next to shape the future. Everyone should get a chance to participate in that in some capacity. This is of course in many ways an over-simplification, but I think you get my drift.

Edit: Also it's probably worth noting, I love the dreams that I get in game. Staff does an amazing job on these and its a wonderful excuse to get people from different houses together to talk. It makes being a priest more fun, and I'm glad I spent the cp on the dreaming ancestors skill (which may be why I sometimes get more dreams?? I'm not sure how they divide the dreams up -- as some people without this skill get dreams as well, but I suspect they have fewer of them). It is in any case a very well done plot dynamic.
