1) I wrote a paper months back that got accepted for a conference in Boston. This was the last obligation I had to my advisor and the paper has my name, her name, and another person's name on it. The conference is this week and the paper is supposed to be presented this Saturday.

2)My advisor had stated she would register me for the conference if I wrote said paper. When she went to do this, she realized that I was no longer classified as a student and therefore it would be quite expensive and was unwilling to do this. She told me (via email) that she wrote the conference presenters to see if it would be okay if she registered and that I just showed up to present the paper. She said she didn't feel comfortable enough with the material to present it herself. They didn't get back to her, so she only registered herself. At this point in time she stated that she didn't care if it was presented or not-if it was published that was fine. She said she'd let me know what happens and what response she finally got back. I do not know if she indicated that the presentation would not happen if I did not attend.

3)The presentation is supposed to be Saturday. I haven't heard back from her. I emailed her Tuesday about this and have gotten no response. The last I heard from her I got the impression that I might not be able to present it. Fine.

However I saw that is still on the agenda. I'm unsure of what to do. I know I should go but I really don't want to drive over an hour away and hunt through Boston to be turned away at the door. The truth is I have a cold and really don't want to go to Boston to present at something like 8:00 am on saturday morning. I'm not sure if I'll make it through all of work today. I don't know if I could even get into the conference without registration (this will be a function of where the conference is held and their security) but I don't want to let the people holding the conference down or sully my name.

I'm going to try to find the email address of the organizer and write them today to confirm whether or not the presentation is taking place. Now I just have to figure out how the heck to write that in a PC way. I also probably have to put together slides that I may not be able to give. Great. Maybe I'll just email them to my advisor since I haven't heard back from her.

4)I'm irritated by this entire situation. I need some basic advice.
