washing of the hands
Sep. 23rd, 2002 07:02 pmI'm on several news and interest groups, some of which come together from time to time to do things. The other day, an old friend of mine whose grown distant wrote to one of these looking for people to start doing more things and made a suggestion for one night. I wrote him back and said I was busy then but asked about doing some other generic and enjoyable activity in
the future. To this I got the..I'm busy every weekend for months response and a but if I wind up doing x (which was somewhat related to what I had suggested) sometime later this year I'll let you know. Fine.
And then i started thinking about it. No one on the group really responded to my related email except for one person, who has always been a kind soul and that was nice and chatty. Additionally, I never stated when I was talking about doing stuff to my distant friend who was actually looking to do stuff - has suddenly politely grown too busy. I know a brush off when I get one. That's fine and somewhat expected from this
person. What suddenly struck me was that almost no one from this group ever responded to me to actually get together and *do* stuff.
now everyone has busy lives, but I know a pattern when I see one. I think I shall keep the one or two chatty ones, and finally give up on the others completely. I have too much to do and too
many activities and friends to see to waste my time on people who don't really want to see me. I somehow doubt that most of the people in question will notice.
So why am I even talking about this? the problem is unfortunately the ones I care about interact with the ones I don't. Also I just don't understand - because most of the time I'm much more forward with people than that.
Oh well. In good happy news, I'm probably going to see a bunch of people from western mass next weekend as well...I'm planning on going to Crestfallen. :)
