bitsyboo for mentioning Sestinas the other day. I'd never tried writing in that poetic form before, and it got me going. It's such an obsessive form, words repeated over and over. I'm not sure I like it.
I really prefer free verse to structured poetry, but when the structured poetry is really well done, you don't notice the structure much as your taken over by the words. On a whole I was really influenced a ton by Stephen Crane when I was younger, and I love that spareness of style.
