Friday I randomly emailed [livejournal.com profile] gaiaturtle asking for contact info to get together because she’s spiff. This led to a whole lot of goodness and time spent with that lovely lady.

Friday I went to see Hero with [profile] dougansf, [livejournal.com profile] reverend_j, [livejournal.com profile] gaiaturtle, etc. Much confusion was had over where exactly dougansf lives in Medford, and whether or not the house exists in a black hole.

The movie was very pretty and most excellent. Every scene was like a moving painting and the sense of place was consistent.

I had been warned the lake scene would bother my head as an engineer, but by that point in the movie, it didn’t phase me due to all the other wire work in the movie. I'm really not particularly fond of wire work.

I love martial arts…Wire work is very pretty and stunning looking but it detracts from my ability to figure out what the heck the martial artist is doing in the fight and what is artificial/extra leverage from the wires. The average professional martial artist is so skilled, I don’t see why anyone would bother with special effects. *harrumph*

Saturday was shopping for Madrigal, reading some of [livejournal.com profile] bitsyboo’s latest work, and meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] gaiaturtle to go see Vanity Fair. This is a 1800s period piece starring Reese Witherspoon based on the William Thackeray novel of the same name. It's a treatise on going for what you want and social climbing in the 1800s. The plot focuses on two friends who are used as counterpoints for each other throughout the story. This movie was also visually beautiful. The sets and time period were on, and while the movie was at times long, it remained interesting.

The clothing was beautiful and I got to drool over period clothing. I have no idea when I became a garb slut, but apparently I am one. I sometimes wonder if it should bother me how much I notice clothing cut now…

I heart period literature pieces...especially visually pretty ones which seem to ignore the seedier more realistic side of life. I find that seedier side fascinating too...but it's harder to find good movies about that.

Afterwards, Gaiaturtle and I had Indian food. I heart Indian food (and period literature pieces). We grabbed the T and went to meet up with some friends of mine at WorldCon.

As a direct result of WorldCon, I now remember what it was like to go to a g33k school again. I now remember the sort of rep gamers have. It’s amazing how much cooler than that all of my gamer friends are.

Sunday was dim sum, apple picking, and gaming. More fruit than you can shake a stick at. More dim sum than you can shake a stick at. More sticks than you can shake a stick at.

Very fun time. Excellent company all the way around. There were 10 of us total, wandering through the berry patches and picking fruit from the trees. It’s really amazing how much fruit is in your average orchard and how much beter fruit tastes freshly picked.

I am also now the proud owner of 5 lbs. of blueberries. It’s a toss-up between making blueberry mead, muffins, or jam. I also got lots of nice nifty apples…As a note on this, Anyone have any good recipes?

Monday; a very nice morning and then a potluck at bitsyboo’s very cool place. It was very cool seeing her.

As a note on inappropriate comments-I am sometimes really stunned by the things that come out of my mouth. I think one of my filters much be broken. It wasn’t taken badly and was actually funny…but yeesh. This same thing happened at the last Atlas event when Eve (my character) stunned Lilia into thinking that Eve had NO English blood in her at all. The thing is at least with Eve it was somewhat intended and in character.

I got home late Monday night and just crashed.
