Ruminsicing about that L word

I've been thinking a lot about love and the nature of love lately; I partially blame beled_el_djinn amd wulfmadchen for things they posted as well as going through old emails-

I'm stealing this quote blatantly from wulfmadchen's public post awhile ago -"Real love is an act of self-discipline, will, and a whole lot of work, and yes I did say "an act." Love is not a feeling, love is not an emotion, love is not something that "just happens to you". Love is action." (Btw wulfmadchen if you want me to take this out I will, i figured a public post, no harm no foul, but some people don't feel that way, i just strongly agree with your sentiment.)

Love shouldn't be about guilt, or what is owed you...love is how you treat other people. Love is an action, which gives rise to an emotion. Love shouldn't be about co-dependence either. I think that we as a society are too often taught that. All of the snow white/prince chraming stories told modernly to young girls are about the man showing up and fixing everything. I sometimes wonder how much serious psychological harm this causes both women and men...because one day we'll all meet our prince charming and everything will be perfect. we will never have to worry about money, or laundry, or ironing again. ;) I do think there's someone out there for everyone, but it will take work.

and finally something yanked from a friend's email a long time ago-

I ran across a piece of anonymous grafitti once, which said:

"Indifference says, 'true love';
True love says, 'groceries?'."

Ah well, hope everyone has a happy 4th. I have no real conrete plans other than possibly seeing arc_stomcrow tonight and his lovely wife and maybe some bad movies later if planning/circumstances arrive. Give aholler by the cell phone if you feel up to doing something :)

and it dawns on me I have no current plans to see the fireworks. :)
