redfishiejust got an email back from Amazon...and happily
"I have placed a new order for the items. There will be no charge for this replacement." which means I'll eventually get my stuff...assuming the post office does what it says and places a deliver if home or leave packages at the office if I am not. Of course, that was supposed to still be in place from a year or two ago.
