MUSEUMING?
Jul. 3rd, 2004 10:36 amI have the urge to go museuming again. I haven't really been to any in the Boston area save the Museum of Science (roughly a year and a half agao) and one of the small but very cool museums attached to Harvard. I am getting the urge to go again.
I spent 2 summers working in a science museum (one summer working in the education department as an intern, another working in the media department) and it gave me an understanding for how they work and how exhibits go together. One of my bosses, made us first thing every morning sopend half an hour with just one exhibit, trying to realy understand and "get it". She wanted us to get elements of design, form, communication, and really learn what was going on with the exhibit. I also spent time in the back rooms, around the production areas where displays, and models were developed. At some point in all of this I dated someone who was an exhibit developer (in a different department than I) and picked up more design theory.
i spent a lot of time scurying among stuff after hours and I find that I look at museums differently now. I spend more time with each exhibit. I haven't done it in awhile and I'm looking to go...
Anyways, anyone interested in going and anyone have an recommendations on what museums I should hit in the Boston-ish area?
