More on my ex-landlords

I was looking back over my entries and realized I never wrote about what happened between myself and my ex-landlords, Dick and Marie. Well when I moved out Dick and Marie were there...heck Dick started stripping the wallpaper in the hallway right away. In any event a box of mine, actually a white plastic office trash bin disappeared. It had my DVD remote in it, one of my suit jackets, an air mattress pump, my telephone and some other things. I honestly believe one of them moved it so I wouldn't see it right away and then they could claim I left it behind. I emailed my landlords later asking about it and saying it had gone missing. Marie wrote me back claiming she would email me either way if they found it. She misspelled my last name and never got back to me. yeah, whatever. Turns out the deductions on our security deposit were all illegal as well. they split the deposit up for us, not evenly of course, and I lost out probably due to them being mad about my room being messy the last month I was there and working on my theses. 1) It was my room and none of their business 2)the division of the deposit should not have been done 3)the charges were illegal. Cleanliness has to be at broom-swept level and none of the specifics were listed as they should have been. Unfortunately in order to sue them, I need to do it jointly with at least some of the previous tenants. 2 are living in another one of their places, 1 is just happy getting her futon back, 1 I don't know how to contact (a sub-letter), 1 I think took some of my kitchen supplies when she left (another sub-letter), and 2 are out of the country. So yeah, that won't happen. The really sad thing is that I know by their reputation that they get away with screwing over college students again and again, because of timing and distance after moving issues. the good thing is we do get free housing counseling from legal services on campus. I've heard more stories about them as landlords though, and not just from students, but from residents of this area. of the 5 new people who moved into our old house only 1 was an american. The one thing that contents me is I know they had a rough time from Matt and I know that their reputation hasn't improved. Also records of complaints I believe are on-file with off-campus housing.
