Jan. 3rd, 2007 10:32 pmyay! Varttina is playing the Somerville theater!!! (This is much less exciting than the Bobs playing later in the month, as I've seen the Bobs, and they're not a modern Finish folk music band).
Varttina for those who knew me circa 1997/1998 was the Finish band I always used to play in my car while driving. There's one particularly surreal memory of playing their music while I was driving with several others during an ice storm as we made our way to the Crossgates mall with this music as a soundtrack. There's nothing quite like listening to happy Finish folk music while worrying about staying on the road.
I never thought there'd be an opportunity to actually see them live in this country. yay!
