Always Pre-pregnant

An article/health recommendation that women should do healthy things ALWAYS and even take Folic Acid tablets on the off chance that they *become* pregnant, that doctors treat women as if they're pre-pregnant.

Now I can't really argue with women doing healthy things for themselves, but I do find it kind of irritating that the emphasis is on women should be healthy just in case they accidently get pregnant, rather than women should be healthy for themselves; to live longer and have better productive lives. It makes women seem like a containers, not a humans. Obviously, women should think of themselves as living incubators, and that their doctors should treat them like they are. Now the fact that this is being put out by a government sponsored agency putting makes me cringe.

Women should keep their asthma in control for their *potential* fetus rather than to breathe for themselves?

also there's a bit about not coming into contact with cat feces....so women should give up their cats? Yes, there are some good reasons that pregnant women shouldn't come in contact with cat feces, but come on now.

Edit: Added a bit. There's almost an implication here that the reason why infant mortality rates are going up is not because 17 million women lack health insurance, and so don't get regular checkups; it's because women aren't being good enough incubators.
