Mar. 1st, 2004 09:11 amFriday night found me in an oddly girlie mood. I don't get to wear girlie clothing at work, as I'm often clambering over machinery. So i wore a dress and my nifty new purple and black stripey knee high socks. stripey socks make me absurdly happy.
Originally I was supposed to meet up with dougansf early that night, but his work ran late. I went off to somehedgehog, wildelven, and gaiaturtle's small madri gras shin-dig. Jumbalaya was had (mmmm....), beads were worn, singing was done, and we found out where most of the rum had gone. The oddest thing of the night was probably watching, The Gamers, a Dead Gentlemen production. It was wonderfully bad and hit on a lot of gamer stereotypes, including the thief of the party stealing ridiculous things, and the wimp being able to pull down the gate while the strong barbarian was completely unable to do so. Dougansf showed up sometime before the movie started, and we found ourselves unable to talk about a game we were in while it was playing....because it just felt wrong somehow...
Saturday, I went to the regional fencing practice in Cambridge. There were about 25 or so fencers in attendance and I got to fight a few people that I don't normally see and to participate in a few melees.
I'm still off my game by a lot but I was on hiatus for quite some time. I feel a bit better about my fencing in general so I can tell I'm making some progress.
My biggest goal is to start some serious drilling and work with 2 sword again. I would really like to get to the point where I'm ready to authorize in 2 sword by GNEW. I also need to work on having more thought process going on in my bouts and less automatic reaction. I can't wait until we can practice outside again and event season starts up but it will be much easier to find fencing time.
Sunday consisted of spending some time with dougansf, watching Bab-5 (yeah season 4!), and generally mellow good things...
