-I'm getting excited about NaNoWriMo because it should force me to write. It will be beautiful beneficial pain.
I have a few ideas popping around but I'm not sure what I'm going with; must brainstorm later. I may just do a series of little vignettes and short stories that interconnect with an overall sweep in it...small stories within a larger plot.
-I deplore coming up with character names. You'll soon notice in most things, larps included, my names tend towards a Scandinavian tint or start with certain letters (As and Ks mostly).
I hate when novels have character names in them that don't sound like they come from the same dialect/region...names that the author obviously derived from Russian for one character and then south Asia for the others. Having guttural sounding names in the middle of musical lilting names should only be done for specific effects.... Otherwise it's just plain silly.
It's like sticking a hasidic jew in the middle of a bunch of elves with no explanation (Yevsha Goldstein can you sense the forest spirits?)
It's one of the many reasons that Tolkien kicks ass...he knew how to deal with words and sound. The linguistic side of the LOTR is awesome.
-Yesterday I finally got around to consolidating my student loans and hopefully I will get a fixed interest rate from the government while the rates are still low. I've been meaning to do this for ages, and happily my procrastination seems to have lowered the rates by about 1%.
-Not much else is new, still have some excess LJ codes, and oh yeah miles (from psiu) and jessi (from madrigal) both have accounts now; neolae, jessibasset.
-I've been debating for the last day and a half whether I'm going to the Bare Blade Tavern Brawl..and the drive is making me think I won't....it also means I can make some other stuff later that night in and around Boston.
