Oct. 17th, 2003 08:44 amJust as a note- last saturday I was down in DC for the wedding of audere47 and kraftus. It was great ceremony and it was wonderful to see a bunch of old friends (including sable47, farleymonster, nalroth, etc). After the ceremony and the reception, a group of us went into DC to the Bratskellar. Almost everyone in the crowd were RPI grads, and most of them were from the house as well. 'Twas neat.
Unfortunately, Adam had lost his ID, so I wandered back early with him and Cara to the Metro and decided to call it a night.
Time spent waiting in a subway station is always incredibly long feeling; this has little bearing on the company you are with. It's worse when it actually is a long time. This was. It dragged on a bit.
It was for this reason I kept looking at my cell phone while we were waiting.
"Waiting for someone to call?"-Cara
"Not really. "-me
"Yeah, that makes sense, on a Saturday night if they don't know they should call, they won't... they're probably out doing something"
"yep, or in their rooms crying their eyes out"
"You went to RPI, didn't you?" she asked, having gone to RPI herself and knowing full well the answer.
"What do you mean?"
"That's such a typical statement, I'd like to think other people [who didn't go to RPI] don't think things like that"
"Okay, maybe not crying their eyes, out but mope-ing"
"That's slightly better"
"yep"
I think she's right. This is what RPI does to people. It takes even the most optimistic and crushes them into cynical bugs.
What was that we used to say? life is a sucking whirling eddy of despair....
Funny then that I'm happy right now. Madrigal is this weekend , so I won't be going back for the house's 3-3 event. Not sure I'd be going back without Madrigal anyways. I'm looking massively forward to this weekend's event...just wish I wasn't already so tired.
