You are Ilsa Lund. "Is that cannon fire, or
is that my heart pounding?"

I knew from the get-go that Roses was going to be an interesting event. I got to see Nick which was pretty good. I also got to hang out with a good chunk of Regnesfolke, Wyndedragon and other groups and friends.

I didn't hang out much at the fencing list mostly due to the cold wetness of everything. I just didn't feel like fencing when I could see old friends who don't live near me. Plus, I was actually really worried about personal dynamics between and with two of my fencing friends before we got there...but happily they both acted maturely.

I could write a lot more about this weekend, but it's complicated and it's personal and this is only my lunch break.

I will say I had a good time and that I really miss everybody.

Here's to good friends both near and far!

today i was scared by a chipmunk. Yep I think that about sums up my day.

Chipmunks are not supposed to run straight at your left shoe. When you stomp or move, they are supposed to run away - as you are much bigger than them. They are not supposed to run towards you more joyously as if you are playing some absurd chipmunk game.

When you see a chipmunk making a beeline for your left shoe, and jump out of its path because this is *odd* behaviour for a chipmunk and a bit unnerving, they are not supposed to track your movement and readjust their path towards the glory that is your left shoe.

When you jump off-line again as the chipmunk races towards you, they should not recorrect their path towards your shoe again. This should not happen several times. Your left shoe should not be Chipmunk Mecca. You should also not wind up running to your car because you are unnerved by an overly amorous chipmunk. You should not feel intense relief that you never came closer than
a foot to the chipmunk. You should not drive away quickly and think about what if the chipmunk had reached your left shoe. What would you have done? Would you have stomped it? What if it had run up your trousers?

It is unnerving to think about stomping on the chipmunk with the shoe it targeted. The thought seems wrong somehow. All it knew was that it loved me and just wanted to be near my shoe. yep i do think that sums up what my day was like today.
