Jan. 10th, 2003 06:23 amnow here's a bit of random gossip on Bush's economic plan-
Now I live in a state with no income tax. The bulk of the state revenue in the form of taxes comes from property tax...which is on the range of $31 per $1000 in property. It appears that if some of the proposed tax reforms Bush has suggested go through, that the state stands to lose out on some money. [I haven't had a chance to verify all of this yet]...and that a bunch of small town's will be in serious financial trouble. Now compound this with the fact that some towns are proposing to eliminate one of the school days, due to these funding problems if they occur. Now what do I ask you happens when you take the school week from 5 days to 4 and provide no supervision for the children on the 5th day? What happens to their education levels, what happens to the parents who still have to work a 5th day of the week? But this is being touted as a good plan, and an area in Colorado that did this is being given as an example....
