Election-
Indecision 2004. No real huge surprises there. It's still hinging on Ohio but it's pretty clear how it's probably going to go. I just hope all of our elections don't turn out this way. It seems to me that we are experiencing more delays/inaccuracies due to modern technology now than we did years ago, and it makes me wonder about how accurate/fair other close elections were in the past.

NH did wind up going democratic for the first time in years and it looks like our incumbent republican governor may have been ousted.

NanoWriMo:
Current word count low.

Hoping a key server I use is back up today, otherwise it's going to be a long slow day.

Wasps:
Thanks to everyone who gave me advice. The live yellow jacket in my apartment has disapeared but I did find two more dead ones as I was cleaning. Ugh. Must clean more.

Edit: I'm actually pretty upset about the state of the elections and the stuff that happened. I wish I was more surprised. Every election day, I'm filled with a naive optimism that just seems to get crashed down the next day. I'm worried because the country is so divided and I feel like our president is a talking chimp. I can't look at him and not think of Curious George dolls.

Kerry just conceded

I put these up a few moments before I found out kerry had conceded. I'm still keeping them up for those who want to see them.

The thing about democracy is it only works if every vote is counted. They haven't counted all of the votes...and while its not likely, there was still a chance of a different outcome.

I feel like Kerry gave up. Yes, there wasn't much chance, but there was enough that the country should have been given the full results.

One of the most appalling things to me is the number of younger adults who did not vote.

Do you know that of the eligible voters age 18-30, only ~17% voted? This is up from the last election of ~10%. But imagine the difference if there had been 18% or 20%...or dare we say it, 90%?

Why does this country have such low voter turn-out, especially among the young?

For all of those who did vote, I'm glad you did, no matter who you voted for.

Okay, I think this will probably be my last post about this election, at least for a bit. Instead I'm going to try to concentrate on something happier...like bunnies, or NaNoWriMo.
